My research focuses on ethics, feminist philosophy, and the philosophy of sex and gender, with an emphasis on autonomy, consent, and relational harms.
I explore how these concepts intersect with systemic oppression, marginalization, and liberty, particularly in the contexts of gender identity and reproductive and sexual justice.

"Sex Bets, Hogging, and the Constitution of Rape": Investigates the ethical wrongs of 'sex bets,' sex conditioned by clandestine wagers; This is a subject not yet broached within mainstream philosophical discourse. By analyzing scenarios where sexual consent is complicated by a 'goal object,' this work challenges conventional norms and expands the scope of what 'counts' as a violation.
"Killing, Consent, and Kinky Sex": Published in Dialogue, this short thought experiment defends the moral permissibility of autassassinophilia (kink-based self-killing) utilizing a utilitarian bioethical framework, complicating traditional notions of consent.
"Live and Let Die": Presented at conferences pre-pandemic, including the University of Denver, this work discusses liberty and autonomy in the context of rational, non-coerced self-killing (i.e., suicide), calling into serious question our intuitions around consent, paternalism, and our duties to others.

I am currently developing further studies that explore the intersection of applied ethics and trans philosophy, specifically looking at how larger social practices and institutions (e.g., medicine, education, law) can better accommodate the unique needs of transgender men.
Continued projects include a detailed examination of how feminist theory can inform and transform the legal and societal understanding of consent, especially in contexts generally neglected by mainstream ethical analyses. I am especially drawn to expanding the language of Dr. Linda Alcoff (CUNY) as referenced in her book Rape and Resistance, wherein she discusses the process of "sexual self-making."
